All Ale the Queen! Young’s & Geronimo Inns create a limited edition beer for Her Majesty

By James Russell: All Ale the Queen! Young’s & Geronimo Inns create a limited edition beer for Her Majesty

June 8, 2016

This June, our dear ma’am will be celebrating her monumental 90th birthday, and to mark the occasion Young’s have created a special, limited edition beer available across all Young’s and Geronimo Inns’ pubs – All Ale the Queen! In addition, free G&Ts will be offered at all venues, and a series of fun-filled, action-packed events will be taking place across various pubs.

On Saturday 11th June, Wimbledon-based neighbours, The Crooked Billet and Hand in Hand will be joining forces to host A Right Roaring Royal Knees Up. Located on the nearby Wimbledon Common, families and pooches are invited to join the big village-style fayre complete with food, drink, stalls and entertainment from 12pm – 5pm.

Taking influence from a traditional British traditional fayre the green will play host to a playground of merriment with tug of war, barrel rolling race, giant Jenga as well as more traditional garden party games including Quoits and French Boules. A photographer will be on hand to snap party goers armed with props of crowns, tiaras, and top hats, for those who are definitely not camera shy and up for a huge dose of traditionally reserved and self-conscious silliness. In addition, there will be some light-hearted competition as canine lovers will be invited to join the dog show, with an award for the most talented pooch.

Not in Wimbledon? Fear not, other Young’s and Geronimo pubs will be hosting celebrations fit for the Queen. These include The Devonshire in Balham, which will be throwing a garden tea party, complete with BBQ, live jazz and flowing Pimm’s and The King’s Head, Winchmore Hill will have customers dancing in the streets with Karauke – an interactive band experience with popular songs played on ukuleles ready for people to sing along to – before enjoying the BBQ and Pimm’s Bar.

Sunday 12th June will see the return of popular pianist Mark Dawson at The Coach and Horses, Kew as he plays some true British classics whilst guests enjoy the roaring BBQ before toasting the Queen with a birthday cake made by the pub’s very own general manager, aka The Cake Boss, Nick Botting. Over in Earlsfield, The Leather Bottle will be totally transformed with bunting, balloons and live music for their bustling and buzzing garden party. Whilst here, you can even sip on a few specially created cocktails from Lottie Muir, using ingredients from the pubs own Garnish Garden.

For adults, there’s free G&Ts and the specially brewed All Ale the Queen on tap. Light, refreshing, hoppy with notes of citrus fruits, a hint of anise and balanced out with a gentle, creamy maltiness, it can only be described as a deliciously moreish pint for our cherished Queen. Great paired with fish dishes and heavenly when matched with BBQ meats.
