From a total of just 133 venues selected to take part in London Wine Week (LWW 2016) from Monday 23 – Sunday 29 May, Novus Leisure, the pioneers driving the late night London scene, has today announced that three of its venues have been especially cherry-picked by a dedicated team from LWW for showcasing excellence. The Novus Leisure venues will form part of a week-long celebration of the very best of London’s thriving wine scene.
Venues getting in on the week long action include the Balls Brothers of London bars – ‘Bury Court’ and ‘Gow’s Restaurant,’ together with Premium Bar & Kitchen’s ‘The Sterling.’ Each bar will offer £5 wine flights, alongside bespoke offers for customer’s wearing a festival wristband.
Balls Brothers Bury Court will be celebrating its favourite reds across the classic regions of France, featuring three favourites: Côtes du Rhône Villages Séguret, Les Laurons, Jean-Luc Colombo 2013/14 Rhone, France. A powerful and well balanced wine, with fresh cherry and raspberry fruit as well as violet and black pepper, complemented by a hint of liquorice. A refreshing burgundy also makes the grade; the Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Bouchard Aîné & Fils 2013, which comprises fresh fruit blossom with fine, smooth tannins. Moving to Bordeaux, customers will be wowed by the Château Montcabrier, Bordeaux Supérieur 2011/12 – a supple Merlot-dominated Claret, with a rich smoky bouquet and elegant soft fruit.
Gow’s Restaurant will titillate the taste buds of wine lovers, flying between France and Italy for its wine offering. A Gavi di Gavi, Enrico Serafino 2014 from the Piemonte region of Italy features floral and citrus aromas with a minerally dry palate. Over in Burgundy, France, a Chablis, Bouchard Aîné & Fils 2013/14 is typically light with mineral aromas, white flowers and hints of fresh peach with a citrusy freshness. Customers looking for a rich, mouth-filling white, need look no further than the Picpoul de Pinet, Les Girelles, Jean-Luc Colombo 2013/2014, features notes of fresh flowers, melon and ripe summer stone fruit.
The Sterling moves into the New World with a Vidal Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand; a crisp and herbaceously intense wine with great complexity, and a mingling of passion-fruit and melon flavours. The off-dry and refreshing Signature du Cleray, Chenin Blanc, Anjou Sauvion from the Loire Valley in France, displays notes of lemon and white flowers and a touch of sweet, acacia honey. Completing the trio, a fresh summery wine, the Rare Vineyards Marsanne Viognier, Pays D’Oc, France, exhibiting lively citrus fruit flavours, backed by notes of peach blossom, and a soft and round finish.
Sorrel Ward, Head of Marketing, Novus Leisure commented: “The dedicated team at London Wine Week have recognised our thirst for wine and excellence, which we look forward to bringing to the table for our customers. Our inclusion is testament to the hard work and dedication from our teams at Balls Brothers London and Premium Bar & Kitchen, who are passionate about creating a great wine experience for our customers.”
