Martin Blunos to Head Up Kitchen at Surrey’s Relaunched Talbot

By James Russell: Martin Blunos to Head Up Kitchen at Surrey’s Relaunched Talbot

May 13, 2016

Bespoke Hotels, the UK’s largest independent hotel group, is delighted to announce the appointment of Martin Blunos to the role of Executive Chef at The Talbot, as the property looks ahead of a summer re-launch following substantial investment. Overseeing the relaunch of the property’s restaurant in early June, Martin will be working alongside Head Chef Paul Turner, himself hailing from nearby Woking, to ensure the new-look menu at The Talbot suits numerous tastes and pockets.

Expect some old favourites, with a few new twists at prices that can be enjoyed by all, whether you’re dropping in for a quick bite midweek, a night out with friends, a quiet table overlooking the refurbished gardens, or a lively family celebration.

One of the country’s best loved chefs, Martin has worked across the industry picking up Michelin Stars and dozens of accolades, as well as featuring worldwide via a range of culinary exhibitions and TV shows, including Iron Chef UK, Cookery School, and Master Chef Australia.  In addition, he has also worked as a columnist for publications such as Flavour and Air Baltic In-Flight Magazine, and even found the time to cook for her majesty the Queen during her Jubilee year.

He joins The Talbot as the much loved property prepares to re-open its doors following substantial investment under new management from Bespoke Hotels, and will expand his role in the coming months to encompass other properties within their portfolio. Totalling £1 million, refurbishment works at The Talbot are currently ongoing and will focus on both the public spaces as well as the grounds and wedding facilities.

“The opportunity to work with Bespoke at such a venerable location was a hugely attractive one”, stated Blunos. “I’m delighted to be joining the team at The Talbot, and to be working more widely with Bespoke in the near future. I aim to serve up great food at outstanding prices, in a venue equally suited to the walking boots as to the well-heeled.”

“Coming from nearby Woking I have long been aware of the property and its reputation for fantastic food”, added Head Chef Paul Turner. “I leapt at the chance to head up the kitchen team at the Talbot and challenge myself working alongside a figure as distinguished as Martin.”

“Although he really needs no introduction, we are thrilled to welcome Martin on board”, said Graham Marskell, Managing Director of Operations for Bespoke Hotels. “Bringing his passion and creativity to the kitchen at The Talbot is a huge boost as we look to re-establish the property and re-affirm its traditions of culinary excellence.”
