Green fingered hotel employees have spent a day getting their hands dirty for London’s leading land-based youth training organisation, Green Corridor.
Members of the team from Holiday Inn London Heathrow – Ariel spent a fourth day volunteering – on Wednesday, 30 March – for the charity which aims to help disadvantaged youngsters by helping them to gain land-based qualifications, develop new skills and realise their potential.
The group of six from the hotel joined Green Corridor activity leaders, Colin Cakebread and Sean Courtman, as well as young learner, Reece Ramm, to plant strawberries, peas, tomatoes and flowers; as well as doing some heavy lifting to clear a two-meter pathway of overgrown brambles.
The hotel, which is operated by the UK’s largest independent hotel management company, Redefine|BDL Hotels, has a strong relationship with Green Corridor, having taken part in three previous projects throughout 2015.
Stephen Brown, general manager at Holiday Inn London Heathrow – Ariel, said: “We’ve been involved with Green Corridor for around a year and this is our fourth volunteer day. The team loves to come out and help the charity. It’s a chance to get out and about as well as helping young people in the local area with great potential, but few opportunities, to learn skills and improve their chances of future employment.
“We also learn a great deal and get to meet some really inspiring people along the way. It’s hard work, but we can’t wait until our next project.”
