Fred Sirieix and Chris Galvin’s initiative ‘Galvin’s Chance’ will be supported on 3rd of June at the annual Mayfair Power & Tower Race. The initiative is run together by the DM Thomas Foundation and The Springboard Charity.
Runners will be challenged to an arduous 5km run around Hyde Park followed by a dash up 28 flights of stairs where runners will be greeted with a champagne breakfast. The money raised will go to support Galvin’s Chance, an into work programme for disadvantaged young people.
Galvin’s Chance was initiated by Chris Galvin and Fred Sirieix at Galvin at Windows restaurant in 2009. It targets people aged 18-24 who are not in education or employment, offering them training and opportunities for a front of house career in some of the most prestigious hotels, restaurants and food service management organisations in the capital. The project provides mentoring, work experience, skills training, paid employment and the potential to gain qualifications.
Galvin’s Chance is delivered through principal partnership arrangements with the DM Thomas Foundation for Young People and The Springboard Charity. The DM Thomas Foundation aims to transform the lives of disadvantaged children across Europe. The Springboard Charity promotes the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry, and supports the young, the unemployed and those facing barriers to work into sustainable employment in the industry.
