IWM Duxford, part of Imperial War Museums and a renowned aviation museum, has opened two new visitor cafes and a restaurant in partnership with Levy Restaurants UK. The new concepts have been created to enhance the visitor experience, bringing world-class design and contemporary menus to reflect changing tastes in food and drink.
The revamped eateries include The Workshop Restaurant; the name reflecting the original use of this First World War building, which contained workshops in the form of a sailmaker’s shop, carpenter’s shop and a machine shop. The 140-seater restaurant has an informal service style, offering classic BBQ dishes such as fire-grilled chicken and fresh ‘fall off the bone’ smoked pork ribs, with sides including mac ‘n’ cheese and sweet potato fries. Vegetarian options are also available, including a vegan chilli burger and mozzarella, tomato and pesto salad.
The Armoury Café and Kitchen is located in the building that was created as an Armoury in 1954 as part of the jet age modernisation of RAF Duxford. Situated next to the Visitor Centre, it greets guests at the start of their visit. Ideal for a quick bite to eat, or for those taking a break between IWM Duxford’s absorbing exhibitions, the Armoury offers traditional British classics including freshly made pies, beer-battered fish and chips, steamed suet puddings and toad-in-the-hole. The café offers an outdoor dining space close to the playground, making it a great family lunch choice.
For those needing a quick break, the American Air Museum Café offers hand-cut sandwiches, freshly-baked cakes and a variety of home-baked muffins, cupcakes, and other treats that draw on its America heritage.

The new Workshop Restaurant offers a wide range of choices, whether it’s our whole rack of pork ribs, or the family platter – perfect for sharing. Not forgetting the younger ones, we have a great range of delights on the kids menu too, all priced at just £6.50.”
