Hayley Davies is three months in to her role as General Manager at the Premiere Classe Hotel in Walsgrave, Coventry where she is responsible for managing a team of ten people and overseeing the running of the venue.
She began her career in hospitality when she was 18-years-old, spending four years working on the front desk, in the kitchen and bar, and providing conference services.
After taking a couple of years out to care for her family and another four years spent training to be a nurse at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham, Hayley was tempted back to the career where it all started in 2006.
After spending around eight years as a front of house receptionist with Best Western Hotels, in 2014 she joined the five star Abbot Grange Hotel in the Cotswolds as Operations Manager for eight months before making the move to The Kings Hotel in Gloucestershire to be their House Manager.
Eventually last December, Hayley struck gold when spotting a job advert for a general manager’s position right on her doorstep.
Hayley, who lives in Binley, said: “I get a real buzz from working in the hospitality industry because you get to see the fruits of your labour when visitors leave satisfied.
“I’ve spent many years putting myself forward for all aspects of hotel work – from changing bed sheets and pouring pints to doing the accounts and carrying out health and safety, so when I saw the job advert, I felt it was the right one for me.”
Mark Aldridge, Director of Operations for UK and Iberia at Louvre Hotels Group, was particularly impressed with Hayley’s hard working attitude.
Mark added: “Hayley’s willingness to immerse herself in every last detail of the running of her hotel is a great example for anybody looking to work their way up in the hospitality industry.
