Suffolk-based brewer and pub retailer, Greene King will open its new beer café and shop next to its landmark brewery on Westgate Street, Bury St Edmunds, on Friday 25 March following a major ten week refurbishment.
The new beer café will welcome visitors daily from Monday – Saturday, serving a range of Greene King and Belhaven beers on draft alongside beer tasting flights, food and beer pairing platters, homemade dishes and locally roasted coffee.
The two storey space is split with the beer café occupying the ground floor, alongside a shop retailing beers and gifts, and the first floor dedicated to the beer tastings that take place at the end of brewery tours as well as private events.
The internal and external décor was inspired by the adjacent Westgate brewery and its 217-year heritage, and the new beer café captures this distinctive design and history; a copper façade entranceway nods to the copper mashtuns used in the brewing process; concrete countertops emulate the brewery floors; a timeline of historic events welcomes guests on arrival; and an internal window offers a unique view onto a working brewery cellar.
