High street coffee chains have been accused of making false claims about how many paper cups they recycle. About seven million paper coffee cups are used in Britain each day, amounting to 2.5 billion a year. According to Simply Cups, Britain’s only paper cup recycling service, less than 1% are recycled.
BaxterStorey was one of the founding signatories to partner with Simply Cups in 2014.
Mike Hanson is head of sustainable business at BaxterStorey and sits on the Foodservice Packaging Association’s Environment Committee.
