Orée Boulangerie and kitchen to open in Fulham in March

By James Russell: Orée Boulangerie and kitchen to open in Fulham in March

February 18, 2016

This March, London-born French style boulangerie and kitchen, Orée, will open on the Fulham Road. Bringing a taste of the boulangeries and patisseries of rural France to West London, Orée will offer freshly baked viennoiserie, artisan bread and fine patisserie, alongside a selection of breakfast dishes, salads and coffees, to eat-in, or takeaway. Following the increasingly popular wellness trend and heightened allergy awareness in London, Orée will also cater for those looking for healthier alternatives, with a unique range of gluten-free breads.

Baking will be at the heart of what Orée does best. Boasting an in-house, glass-fronted 2.5 tonne deck oven and open boulangerie kitchen, all of Orée’s bread will be kneaded and freshly baked, daily, on site. Executive Head Chef Sebastien Charrier and Head Bakery Chef, Olivier Malebrera have worked closely with renowned artisanal experts, from Nantes in France, using a selection of 20 specialist French flours to create a number of innovative recipes, exclusive to Orée. Inspired by all corners of the globe, Orée will serve 12 different types of bread, including; Rye, Sourdough, Buckwheat, Nordic and Japanese, as well as a seasonal ‘bread of the month’.

The patisserie counter will appeal to all senses: as beautiful in presentation, as delicious in flavour and scent, and will include French classics: Croissants, Pains aux Chocolats and Escargot aux Pistaches, all made with traditional sourdough as well as Cannelés, Flan, Financiers, and Kugelhofs. More traditional British options, such as Scones with Jam and Clotted Cream, and Cheesecake will also be available. For customers looking for something more contemporary, Sébastien has also created a more unique and unusual range that includes: Matcha and Raspberry Tea Cakes and Lemon and Yuzu Meringue Tartelettes, all baked daily on site.

Breakfast and Brunch at Orée will combine both hearty and healthier options, to cater for all requirements. Light and healthy choices will include Chia Pudding with Seasonal Fruits, White Egg Omelette, and Dairy-Free Coconut Yoghurt with Granola and Honey, whilst more indulgent offerings will include Waffles, Organic Eggs à la Coque, and Organic Eggs Benedict, Royale and Florentine.

At lunch, customers can choose from a selection of tartines topped with both French and British classics. Salads created by the Executive Chef of the Arts Club and accompanied by fresh Orée bread will also be served, as well as savoury quiches, cheese and charcuterie sharing platters, and homemade soups.

In keeping with the London-born ethos, coffee will be supplied from renowned London coffee roasters Climpson & Sons, whilst Parisian tea suppliers, Kusmi, will supply Orée with a wide variety of teas. Orée will also offer dairy free milk options as well as freshly squeezed fruit juices.

Orée’s interiors are largely reflective of the tradition that France is renowned for, with white marble-top tables and surfaces, pale blue and gold branding, and gold leaf signage, hand-painted by Lucien Helle, France’s last practicing traditional ornamental glass artist. Exposed white-washed brickwork, and large glass display counters will give Orée a light and airy feel making it the ideal spot in which to while away an afternoon or enjoy an early morning coffee and pastry.
