Nottingham’s newest bar, The Hockley Arts Club, has now opened its doors after the transformation and restoration of the Victorian Grade-ll listed building it is housed in.
The creative team behind popular cult venue Das Kino have created a unique venue in the heart of Nottingham, with great effort having been made to preserve the building’s originality. Spread across four floors, the ground floor houses Mid-Century furniture, Scandinavian wood panelling and features an imposing back bar stocked with unique liquors.
The first floor has the intimate feel of a gentleman’s club surrounded by original fittings, an impressive bar, and a series of rooms lit by moody lamps and striking neon lights.
The Electric Garden lies in the loft space to entice guests with the feel of an outdoor meets indoor feel, complete with a third bar enclosed by foliage.
Guests can experience casual dining in the form of shareable plates, an extensive wine list and a carefully crafted list of cocktails that boast bold flavour combinations, including When Life Gives You Lemons and Twister (featuring a twister ice-lolly).
Designed to provide a relaxed yet creative ambience, drinks are complimented by a unique menu, offering something different to the already varied Nottingham food scene. The menu includes dishes such as Savoury Roasted Chicken Popcorn, Black Pudding and Crispy Bacon Salad, plus a special Sunday Menu, with traditional roast chicken or beef being served.
General manager Adam Sumner is really excited about the venue and it’s offering:
“It’s been a fantastic opening! People really seemed to love the unique décor and what’s on offer. After months of renovating and furniture sourcing, it’s amazing to hear all the positive feedback.”
“Nottingham is an incredibly culturally diverse and vibrant city, with a ton of choice, so you have to work really hard to bring something new to the scene.
“The team are thrilled to have restored a building with such unique identity and with The Hockley Arts Club, we aim to provide a lasting legacy that Nottingham will be proud of.”
