The title is a bold one – The Roux Scholarship, a truly life changing opportunity for all chefs – but it is an accurate one that stands the test of time. Amongst the many competitions for chefs in the UK the Roux Scholarship sits at the summit, unchallenged.
Many of today’s most acclaimed chefs are Roux Scholars, having mustered the courage to enter and having challenged themselves, reap rewards that stand them in good stead for the rest of their career.
Note that we did not use the term ‘win’ and chose ‘enter’. The two founders of The Roux Scholarship, Michel Roux OBE and his brother Albert always emphasised ‘the experience of competing’.
