The Drury Tea and Coffee Company is supplying its speciality teas and single origin coffees to Hop Stuff Brewery for them to produce three new tea and coffee flavoured beers, which are expected to become sure-fire seasonal best-sellers.
Following its recent factory and head office move to the Royal Arsenal Riverside development at Woolwich, Drury approached its new neighbour on the estate, Hop Stuff, to float the idea of tea and coffee flavoured beers. The response from Hop Stuff was very positive and Drury has gone on to supply the tea and coffee ingredients for the new brews. The result is three distinct and different styles of beer.
Three New Flavoured Beers
The new beers are each flavoured with different teas and coffees, all of which will be available to the on- and off-trade in good time for Christmas:
Jasmine Pale Ale – This is the lightest of the three collaborations; the light malt bill is complemented by US Citrus hops and the floral, perfumed and heady flavours of Jasmine Green Tea – 4% ABV. List price £32 per case of 24 bottles.
Finca San Pablo Oatmeal Stout – Finca San Pablo Colombian single origin coffee meets British malt and hops to create this brew. Burnt caramel sweetness & bright citrus high notes are created through a blend of late coffee and hop additions layered over an oaty roast base – 4.8% ABV. List price £34 per case of 24 bottles.
Lapsang Souchong Smoked Brown Ale – A truly weird and wonderful concoction. Pine, smoke & peated whiskey aromas blended with earthy and subtly spicy hops combine to create a truly special winter warmer – 6.4% ABV. List price £35 per case of 24 bottles.
The Taproom
The collaboration between the two companies has now been taken a stage further as Drury has started supplying the coffee for Hop Stuff’s latest venture, The Taproom. This is an independent bar and restaurant recently opened on The Royal Arsenal development by James Yeomans and Emma Wheatley, the couple behind Hop Stuff. It will serve Drury’s Finca San Pablo Colombian coffee – plus the restaurant will naturally sell the new Drury-inspired tea and coffee flavoured beers.
Speaking at the launch, Founder and Managing Director of Hop Stuff, James Yeomans, said. “As a small craft brewer, we had been thinking about tea and coffee flavoured beers for some time. It was just serendipitous that Drury moved onto the estate and approached us. We are delighted with the help and advice we received from them. We are very pleased with the taste of the new beers and we expect them to become seasonal best-sellers.”
