The Draco Pub Company has announced the purchase of the Kings Arms Hotel, Dorchester. This is the fourth addition to the portfolio for the Somerset based company.
Since 2011 the Draco company has acquired and transformed three coaching inns into award-winning pubs: The Swan and The White Hart in Somerset and most recently, Timbrell’s Yard in Bradford-on-Avon which opened in March of this year following a £1.5 million refurbishment.
Draco specialises in breathing new life into historic inns; retaining a building’s heritage and charm whilst creating beautiful and stylish public spaces with excellent dining and luxurious accommodation. Establishing pubs as a key part of the local community and providing locally sourced food and drink are central to Draco’s unique take on the hospitality industry. Their award-winning kitchens are overseen by Executive Chef Tom Blake, formerly Head Chef at River Cottage, who has built a network of West Country farmers and suppliers to produce critically acclaimed menus.
Rob Greacen, Managing Director of the Draco Group, said: “We are honoured to be the new custodians of The Kings Arms Hotel. It is a very special place, an iconic and much loved local landmark and we’re delighted at the prospect of refurbishing such a historical gem to the first rate standard that it deserves.”
The Kings Arms Hotel went into receivership in January of this year and was bought several months later by Draco. The company will begin the comprehensive overhaul when they receive the go-ahead from planning and hope to re-open The Kings Arms as a hotel in early 2017.
