Devonshire Club appoints Ian Palmer for launch

By James Russell: Devonshire Club appoints Ian Palmer for launch

November 18, 2015

The City of London’s newest private members club, the exclusive Devonshire Club, has hired top club host Ian Palmer, as General Manager. Palmer is tasked with launching what is described as London’s most talked about new members club.

The £25m club is situated on the South East corner of Blackstone’s private estate Devonshire Square and is due to open in May 2016.

Palmer joins from The Club at Café Royal, and has previously worked at The Arts Club and Home House. Known as the ‘consummate host’, he has a debonair charm and an amazing network of high net worth contacts.

Ian Palmer is renowned for hosting the legendary Brits after-show parties at Home House; he brought Madonna and Valentino to ‘Pret A Diner’ in the Old Vic tunnels, and more recently DJ Paul Oakenfold, Kanye West, Primal Scream, and Tom Hardy (with his Labrador) to The Club at Café Royal.

Ian has a strong hotel background: having started his training at The Savoy Hotel, he worked at Claridge’s, the Connaught and was part of the revival team at the Conrad Hotel, Chelsea.

The club boasts 68 bedrooms ranging from de-luxe Queen sized to more substantial suites; there will be 24 hour room service, valet parking and private concierge.

The appointment re-establishes the business partnership with Arts Club and Home House founder Brian Clivaz.

“This is the most exciting project I have worked on” says Palmer, “To have the opportunity to launch a private members club in the City, in such an iconic location, is a dream. We will be bringing a super luxury product to the square mile and creating a space where business and pleasure can collide”.

About Devonshire Club

Devonshire Square, owned by The Blackstone Group, is a thriving estate nestled next to Liverpool Street comprising 630,000sq ft. of office, retail, restaurants and bars. The Devonshire Club will undoubtedly change the social complexion of this part of the City re-enforcing Devonshire Square’s position as the prime City location to network and socialise.

Devonshire Club is housed in a 19th century Regency warehouse occupying six floors. Apart from the location and its size (60,000 f2), and the budget for the refurbishment (£25m), the club will have impressive facilities that few can rival including 68 bedrooms, 110 seat brasserie, private dining rooms, a screening room, three Bars, a private gymnasium with personal trainers, a Pilates studio, blow dry and nail bars, three treatment rooms, valet parking, both a summer and winter garden and a smoking terrace.  The Devonshire Club and will be unashamedly glamorous and luxurious.
