Coaching Inn Group invests £100K in coffee offer

By James Russell: Coaching Inn Group invests £100K in coffee offer

November 12, 2015

The Coaching Inn Group is investing £100,000 in developing a top quality coffee offer across its estate as early results show a 50% increase in sales.

Working with specialist fresh coffee company Bewley’s, whose award-winning Baristas are providing extensive training for The Coaching Inn Group staff, the new-look coffeehouse and eatery concept has been launched at six of its properties and will be rolled out across the rest of the group next year.

Great coffee as part of full day offer

“Working with Bewley’s, we have seen daytime coffee and patisserie sales increase 50% and received tremendous feedback from customers for our new coffeehouse and eatery concept,” said Kevin Charity, Managing Director of The Coaching Inn Group.

“Providing a high quality full day offer to increase local as well as visitor and business trade, is a key part of our development strategy for all our hotels and there is a strong and still growing demand for great coffee as part of that offer. We’re looking forward to working with Bewley’s as we continue to roll out the new-look coffeehouses across our estate.”

Best-in-class training

Brendan McDonnell, Commercial Director at Bewley’s comments: “We’re delighted to be working with The Coaching Inn Group on this extensive programme. This will see our dedicated team of award winning Baristas providing best-in-class training to hotel staff, including a visit to our Yorkshire roastery to see the complex coffee preparation process for themselves.

“We’re installing Franke Foammaster machines for Coaching Inns. These deliver beverage consistency, speed of service and ease of use for the operator. We will be supplying our multiple Great Taste Award winning Grumpy Mule Milestone Espresso coffee. This is a Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade Certified 100% Arabica blend. Sourced seasonally and directly from co-operatives in Brazil, Peru and Honduras it is a full bodied espresso with tastes of caramel, dark chocolate and subtle fruit complexity – a firm favourite with customers.”

New coffeehouse concept at 6 sites

The Coaching Inn Group operates individually styled coaching inns, each with an all-day offer, across the UK and has built a strong reputation in the industry for transforming underperforming establishments into busy and profitable businesses. To date it has rolled out its new coffeehouse concept at the White Hart Hotel in Boston, the Old Bridge Inn in Holmfirth, the Talbot Hotel in Oundle, the Three Swans Hotel in Market Harborough, the Royal Oak in Welshpool and the Admiral Rodney Hotel in Horncastle.
