Award Winner Welcome Break is the MSA to beat

By James Russell: Award Winner Welcome Break is the MSA to beat

November 24, 2015

Welcome Break, one of the UK’s leading motorway service providers, has proved that it has the capability to generate considerable success for some of the world’s biggest food brands, after being recognised by Starbucks, SUBWAY, Burger King and Dunkin’ Donuts Brands International for its high level of brand standards.

Starbucks

The first award came from Starbucks, which named Welcome Break the UK Licensee of the Year at its annual Starbucks Managers’ Conference. The team was chosen for outstanding innovation, and growing store count significantly; through driving design and innovation; as well as consistently executing Starbucks brand standards and values by being fully engaged with the brand and a strong commitment to training, all of which has resulted in amazing like for like sales growth.

In addition, Gemma Barrett, store manager of the Starbucks drive thru at Hartshead Moor, won the Starbucks Mission and Values Award.

SUBWAY

Meanwhile, SUBWAY announced Welcome Break was 2015 Non-Traditional Worldwide Developer of the Year at the brand’s 50th annual convention in Las Vegas. SUBWAY praised Welcome Break’s efficient and professional launch of the brand in its sites, with 26 stores opened in 18 months.

Dunkin’ Donuts

Furthermore, Welcome Break’s Dunkin’ Donuts team received the award for Development Excellence at the Dunkin’ Donuts Brands International’s 2015 Europe Regional Meeting, beating other teams from across the continent. In addition to the team’s operational performance, they were chosen because of the successful rollout of Dunkin’ Donuts stores at 12 Welcome Break sites this year.

Burger King

And as a final coup, Burger King recognised Welcome Break for ‘Driving the Strongest Traffic results in 2015’ for the UK and Ireland. This was made possible by the high level of focus on operations on the part of the team, and by making sure each and every guest received world class service.

Investment into motorway service stations

These awards demonstrate the success of Welcome Break’s commitment to providing customers with a wide range of food and drink options from their favourite brands. The introduction of Starbucks, SUBWAY, Burger King and Dunkin’ Donuts to Welcome Break sites has been a key part of the company’s on-going investment into its motorway service stations, which has also seen the launch of ten new food courts, and thirteen Starbucks drive-thrus, across the estate.

Welcome Break has also recently agreed new partnerships with salad bar brand Tossed, and now have six units at Birchanger, South Mimms, Fleet, Warwick Southbound, Cobham and Oxford.

There are now a total of 18 Harry Ramsden’s across Welcome Break sites offering world famous fish and chips.  Welcome Break also operates 25 Days Inn and four Ramada hotels across the UK motorway network.

Welcome Break was named as number 88 on The Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 100 2015, the annual list of the UK’s top 100 private companies with the biggest sales. In the year to January 2015, sales at Welcome Break reached an annualised £671 million.
