A major hotel in north eastern Scotland, the base of numerous holidays by Charlie Chaplin and his family, has been put on the market with a multi-million pound price tag as its London-based corporate owner seeks to rationalise its portfolio.
The Newton Hotel in Nairn is being marketed by hotel and licensed property specialist Colliers International with an asking price of around £4.5m plus VAT. Well-known as a conference and banqueting venue, as well as a popular hotel for tourists, the Newton is a fine original Scots Baronial mansion house set in 21 acres of private grounds.
It has been extended to provide 63 bedrooms and an extensive range of eight conference and meeting rooms to cater to a wide cross section of size of functions and private dining. It also has its own restaurant, lounge bar, lounges and the bistro.
Alistair Letham, a director in the UK hotels agency team at Colliers International, said: “The Newton Hotel has been well established for many years on the Inverness and Moray Coast area as a popular destination for weddings, conferences and banqueting, as well as traditional leisure and other commercial business. It is trading at a steady level of turnover and good levels of profit. The Newton Hotel should be an exciting prospect for experienced hoteliers or for small groups looking to build their portfolio.”
