‘Glassology’
Leading glassware supplier, Libbey, whose products are distributed exclusively to the UK foodservice market by Artis, is hosting an innovative new competition for bartenders. In recent years, the selection of glassware has become equally as important as the drink it contains. Now Libbey is challenging drinks professionals to design their own glassware. In the European ‘Glassology’ by Libbey design competition, it’s not the drink that takes centre stage but the glass it’s served in.
The competition calls upon professionals to disregard existing styles and preconceptions about glassware and to come up with their own innovative design. Designs will be judged on creativity, innovation and originality. The winner will have the pleasure of seeing their design put into production by Libbey and distributed around the globe. They will also receive 500 pieces of their own glass, an all expenses paid visit to Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans and a guaranteed spot on the jury of the 2017 contest.

120 successful UK applicants passing the first stage judging will be invited to regional finals and the chance to refine their ideas with Libbey’s design team. The final is to be held in Lisbon in April 2016 when the six finalists will battle it out to see their design immortalised and taken into production.
