The Bowler debuts at Seven Dials

By James Russell: The Bowler debuts at Seven Dials

October 7, 2015

Shaftesbury has today announced that ‘Meatball’ street food brand, The Bowler, is to launch its debut UK location at Seven Dials.  The 518 sq ft site on 1 Monmouth Street is due to open in October.

Jez Felwick (above) and founders of POLPO restaurants, Russell Norman and Richard Beatty, joined forces to create this dedicated ‘Meatball’ inspired shop.  The Bowler will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and includes a lunchtime fast-track service available from ‘The Fast Bowler hatch’.  The brand previously traded from temporary locations in Shoreditch, KERB Spitalfields, and Street Feast London, as well as many of the UK’s biggest festivals.  Felwick currently has a ‘meatball cookbook’ on sale, showcasing recipes behind the brand’s unique menu.

The Bowler is the latest addition to the evolving dining offer at Seven Dials and follows other brands announced this year, including artisan baking producer, Free Range People, Swedish bakery, Fabrique, and new café concept, 26 Grains.  Most recently, Vico, the new restaurant concept from the founders of Bocca Di Lupo, opened in late August at the Seven Dials gateway; Cambridge Circus.

Founder of The Bowler, Jez Felwick, commented on the new opening at Seven Dials: “‘The Bowler is all about good, fast food – quality ingredients, careful cooking and having fun – and we wanted a location to reflect this for our first permanent shop. The small independent cafes and restaurants of Seven Dials made it the ideal choice and I’m delighted to be opening here amongst such wonderful neighbours as Monmouth Coffee and Home Slice Pizza.”

Also commenting on the signing and thriving dining scene at Seven Dials, Charles Owen, Portfolio Executive at Shaftesbury said: “The success of Seven Dials as a destination in its own right is driven by a strong retail and leisure mix.  High footfall is generated by the attractive leading international retailers and exceptional independents, and is sustained by providing visitors with equally attractive places to eat, relax and take a break whilst shopping.”

Seven Dials is home to over 150 shops, including international flagships and concept stores, renowned beauty and grooming salons as well as over 50 vibrant cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs.  The area comprises of Monmouth Street, Earlham Street, Neal Street, Shorts Gardens, Neal’s Yard, Endell Street, Shelton Street, Mercer Street and the Seven Dials monument. Combined with two luxury hotels, five theatres, two private members clubs, a large number of apartments and offices, including the UK headquarters of Facebook, Seven Dials is a unique retail and leisure destination in the heart of London.
