Moments from Shoreditch, Spitalfields and Liverpool Street, this Bishopsgate cellar bar, named after the original owner of the building, specialises in shrub cocktails, the cocktail of choice for London’s cocktail cognoscenti, and on trend toasties. Shrub Cocktails
Enjoy table service or pull up one of the half back leather bar stools and talk cocktails with the engaging mixology team. A carefully curated list, created with Salts Of The Earth, cocktail councillors from Shrub & Shutter, offers ten seasonally changing concoctions all based upon specially created, sweet and sour syrups called shrubs. Made in house, to top secret recipes, shrubs add a delicious depth of flavour turning a great drink to an extraordinary one, a must for any cocktail connoisseur.
Each drink is inspired by local areas, with accompanying hashtags representing the typical inhabitants found in each place. Sensational sips include: The Canary Wharf (#TheTrader) an energy inducing mix of vodka, Kahlua, caramel shrub and espresso, The Shoreditch (#TheArtist) for floral free spirits with Beefeater Gin, parmaviolet shrub, elderflower and catnip tincture or The Hoxton (#ThePhotographer) featuring a duo of Sipsmith gins with apricot liqueur, pomegranate shrub and a shortbread crumble rim.
Toasties, Soups and Sharing Boards
From breakfast to late night bites, WM Barker & Co. offers great tasting toasties freshly made to order, daily changing soups and charcuterie and cheese boards. Toasties include The Brinner (egg, cumberland sausage, bacon and black bomber cheddar), the Mac n’ Cheese with chorizo pate and caramelised red onion and the Five Cheese Ooze (a melting mixture of five British varieties with charred spring onions).
Open sandwiches include hot smoked salmon with pickled cucumber, soft boiled hen’s egg and capers; and smashed avocado with heritage tomatoes. Boards offer a DIY mix of British cheeses and charcuterie serving between two and four diners including Rosary Ash, Blacksticks Blue and Ogleshield cheeses, whilst the charcuterie choices include Scottish venison chorizo, seaweed and cider salami and veal salami with lemon and thyme.
Caffeine Crazy
The gourmet coffee station will fulfill every caffeine fix with signature classic coffees and modern new brews from Barker’s baristas, including cold brews – slowly infused in fresh water over 24 hours and served cold to keep all the nutrients in tact – and the extra special Will’s Early Riser, a bulletproof style coffee with double espresso, grass fed butter and brain octane oil that’s guaranteed to get your blood pumping and energy rising. Freshly pressed juices and matcha green tea also available.
