Sodexo, world leader in quality of life services, marked a busy and successful year for both the company and services industry at a celebratory reception in London on 16th September.
With an UK&I annual turnover of around £1.2bn for year ending 2014 and an underlying growth rate of 10 per cent by the third quarter of 2014/5, Sodexo delivers a range of services ranging from catering and cleaning, to asset management, security, laboratory and grounds maintenance services, thus enabling clients to focus on their core business.
And, in the past year, Sodexo has won several high profile private and public sector contracts.
In the public sector Sodexo was successful in securing six of the Ministry of Justice’s transforming rehabilitation probation contracts (in partnership with crime-prevention charity Nacro) and a five-year contract with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust to provide cleaning, portering, retail and private patient services across its five hospitals in London. Sodexo was also one of three organisations successful in gaining a place on all three lots of the new central government Facilities Management Services Framework Agreement.
Corporate and hospitality
In the corporate and hospitality sectors Sodexo won new contracts with Diageo and Singapore Airlines’ First and Business Class lounges, whilst in the education sector key wins included Northumbria University, York St John University, Exeter schools, Brentwood School and Wycombe Abbey School.
96% retention rate
In addition to new business successes, for the last three years, Sodexo’s retention rate has been over 96% and in the past year Sodexo has retained some key clients including Reckitt Benckiser, Everton, Oasis schools, Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals, Honda and ConocoPhillips. Sodexo has also grown its existing business with many clients including Dell, RHS Chelsea Flower Show, AstraZeneca and eBay.
Integrated facilities management services
Increasingly, Sodexo’s clients are looking for a measurable impact on their outcomes through the deilvery of integrated facilities management services, covering everything from catering, cleaning and property maintenance through to security, helpdesk and energy management.
Public Service Pledge
Sodexo also made strong progress against its corporate responsibility targets and took the bold step of launching its Public Service Pledge, an ethical manifesto which identifies key public service areas and initiatives Sodexo promises to commit to, measure, and report on at least annually.
Speaking at yesterday’s event, Debbie White, CHAIR, Sodexo UK & Ireland (pictured top), explained:
“We are delighted that over the past year we have won some significant new business while at the same time growing our existing accounts and achieving an excellent retention rate. At the heart of our strategy is our mission to improve quality of life for our clients, customers and employees through the services we deliver. This mission, which places people at the centre of what we do, means that we are doing things differently and defining the market in new and exciting ways.
“As a values-based company, I’m proud of the work we’re achieving through our Public Service Pledge, a really important piece of work for us in terms of publically setting out our stall on key issues and helping to dispel negative stereotypes around outsourcing.”
