New breakfast and lunch-on-the-go concept, Yum Som, will launch in Leadenhall this October, specialising in Asian-influenced salads, built fast and fresh to order layering rice or noodles with healthy greens, vegetables and fruit, meat or tofu, and finished with Asian herbs, crispy toppings and tailor-made dressings.
The menu will also feature grab-and-go options including: rice paper rolls; glass noodle salads; small pots; Yum Subs and soups. The breakfast selection will feature: smoothie bowls; spiced porridge; shaobing (layered Chinese flatbread with a variety of fillings); PRESS juices and top quality Union coffee.
Spending an average of £6 per head, customers can opt to takeaway or eat in the 1,471 sq ft, 20-cover venue, designed by Russell Sage, which incorporates plenty of natural wood with bright accents of colour.
Space in the market
Founder Ed Martin has nearly two decades of experience in the restaurant and bar industry, bringing new restaurant concepts to life while contributing to the revival of traditional British pub culture. Together with his brother Tom – under the ETM Group umbrella – he has opened a dozen successful, award-winning gastropubs and restaurants/bars in prime locations across London. He also sits on the boards of Pho and Bounce and is an active investor in the F&B industry.
He commented: “Although there are many takeaway lunch options in London, I saw a space in the market for fresh, made-to-order Asian salads alongside rice paper rolls, nutritious subs and soups that are full of flavour yet packed with goodness.
“I’m very excited to launch this new concept in Leadenhall. The menu is short and simple, catering to busy City types, but includes a wide variety of pan-Asian flavours that offer something truly different and exciting.”
