Australian-born Tim Laferla began working in bars during his university studies near Perth, Western Australia.
Moving to the UK in August 2013, Laferla was appointed bar manager at Mr Copper’s House & Garden, a newly opened bar and restaurant from world-renowned chef, Simon Rogan, attached to the iconic Midland Hotel in Manchester. Laferla was responsible for developing an extensive bar and cocktail menu whilst working closely with Rogan and his team.
In September 2014, Laferla moved to London where he was employed as bar manager for upmarket pan-Asian restaurant, Bam-Bou in Fitzrovia. The bar, owned by Caprice Holdings (The Ivy, The Ivy Market Grill, The Ivy Chelsea Gardens), was nominated in the top ten restaurant bars in the world at Tales of the Cocktail in both 2014 and 2015 under Laferla’s management.
Through the years, Laferla has received many awards for his innovative approach to mixology. Most notably, Laferla was awarded global finalist for Disaronno’s Mixing Star awards (2013), UK national finalist for El Dorado’s Swizzle awards (2013), top six UK national finalist for Bols Around the World awards (2014), and UK national finalist for Diageo Reserve World Class awards (2015).
In summer 2015, Laferla took the role of bar manager at Jason Atherton’s City Social, situated within iconic skyscraper Tower 42 in the City of London. Here, he will put his own stamp on the cocktail menu, focusing on his passion and knowledge of whiskies.
