ibis Styles opens Glasgow Centre George Square hotel

By James Russell: ibis Styles opens Glasgow Centre George Square hotel

September 25, 2015

Stepping inside ibis Styles Glasgow Centre George Square – which will be operated by Redefine|BDL Hotels, the UK’s largest independent hotel management company – guests are transported on a whistle-stop tour of the cultural milestones that have shaped Scotland’s largest city. In synergy with the ibis Styles brand, the hotel tells the story of its city location and showcases its bold personality.

From the grit of the Clydeside shipyards and the creative genius of Glasgow’s most famous sons, to the hilarious traits of “The Big Yin” himself, Billy Connolly, the ibis Styles Glasgow Centre George Square captures the city’s bountiful banter throughout its design.

ibis Styles is the boutique budget brand from the ibis family. Whilst ibis budget and ibishotels offer standardised features, fixtures and fittings, the ibis Styles brand enjoys greater flexibility when it comes to its uniquely designed hotels. As a result guests can experience all the fun, quirky elements of a boutique property with the quality assurances of a large and well-established hotel brand. Each ibis Styles hotel boasts its own distinct design, great location and ‘all-inclusive’ offer at a great price with loads of little extras!

Glasgow-based Redefine|BDL Hotels has recruited an expert team to create the best guest experience possible. It will be led by general manager and experienced hotelier, Rory McAleece.

Ross Morrow, Redefine|BDL Hotels’ Chief Development Officer, said: “It’s fantastic to see the hotel completed and welcoming its first guests. And as this is our first Glasgow property, it’s like a homecoming for Redefine|BDL Hotels, as we’re based in the city.

“The finished hotel looks fantastic, perfectly captures what Glasgow is all about and, to top it off, is in a fabulous central location. I’m confident the team will make it a firm favourite in the city.”

A city where visitors are welcomed with a warm hug and a wee dram, ibis Styles Glasgow Centre George Square is adorned with more than a few wry icons of Glasgow. Inspiration has been taken from the Duke of Wellington statue sporting the obligatory traffic cone atop his head, local hero Billy Connolly’s outrageous big banana boot and Glasgow’s proud industrial past.
