Orion Capital Managers, advised by Savills, has secured nine leisure lettings at its East Kilbride Shopping Centre’s new leisure quarter in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. These new lettings mean the leisure quarter is now 80% let.
Restaurant chains Frankie & Benny’s, Chiquito, Bella Italia, Homemade Burger, Filling Station, Nando’s, Cook&Indi and Pizza Express have all taken units. New leases have been agreed for space ranging from 3,500 sq ft (325 sq m) to 5,000 sq ft (464 sq m). Pure Gym has also taken a unit scheme, opening an 11,010 sq ft (1,057 sq m) fitness centre earlier this year.
The leisure quarter at East Kilbride is currently under construction and is due to open in September 2016. Set over two levels the development is anchored by an ODEON cinema and a new ice rink. East Kilbride Shopping centre, Scotland’s largest covered shopping centre, totals 1.4 million sq ft (130,060 sq m) and has an annual footfall of 15.5 million. The scheme is anchored by Debenhams, Topshop, Zara, French Connection, Next and Primark.
Carlene Hughes, associate director in Savills leisure team, comments: “This new leisure quarter at East Kilbride has created excellent space for strong national brands to be able complement the retail offer at the centre. It is a testament to the strength of the scheme that it’s now 80% let and we expect to continue to receive significant interest for the remaining units.”
