DF Mexico to arrive in Tottenham Court Road

By James Russell: DF Mexico to arrive in Tottenham Court Road

September 2, 2015

DF Mexico will open its doors at 28-29 Tottenham Court Road on Thursday 17th September, bringing fast food and frozen margaritas to London’s W1.

The modern Mexican diner, inspired by a road trip Wahaca founders, Thomasina Miers and Mark Selby, took to Mexico City (Distrito Federal) and the United States, launches almost one year after the original DF Mexico began as an experiment at The Old Truman Brewery.

Menu

DF Mexico Tottenham Court Road’s menu will offer regular guest special dishes as well as new dishes including Carne con chile crinkle cut fries, referred to by the DF team as ‘next level nachos’. These will appear alongside DF Mexico classics such as the ‘NYC Torta,’ a Mexican burger served New York style in a toasted brioche bun with smashed avocado; and the ultimate Mexican-American steak tacos, made with grilled steak, crispy cheese, chipotle salsa and tomatillo guacamole; served diner-fast in soft tortillas.

DFrozen Margaritas

A quick Mexican fix wouldn’t be complete without tequila and the ever popular DFrozen Margaritas made with 100% agave Cuervo Tradicional tequila will be available in three different flavours: Classic, Passion fruit, and Raspberry and Hibiscus.

A menu of locally-sourced beers including Lupulo Pale Ale (Brewed for DF Mexico by Brixton Brewery) and Bottomless agua fresca will also be available.

Art and design

The barrios of Mexico City are home to an art and design scene so vibrant that it has gained global attention. DF Mexico Tottenham Court Road will highlight and support this artistic scene by showcasing 46 original works from young contemporary artists at its heart, including original paintings, limited edition silkscreen prints, woodcuts, lithographs, posters and mixed media. Artists include Le Super Demon who, inspired by traditional Mexican Loteria cards, has produced a special series of 6 paintings on wood, and world renowned Santa Sagre who uses folkloric references such as masks, skulls, textures and Quetzalcoatls to create his own stories.
