Old-school glamour meets contemporary London this October with the opening of 45 Jermyn St., a new destination restaurant in the heart of St. James’s that is owner operated by Fortnum & Mason.
The exquisite dining room will take its inspiration from a golden age of glamour, a time when service, attention to detail and elegance were hallmarks of a great restaurant. At 45 Jermyn St., whether you are sipping a martini at the bar before dinner, or sampling one of the kitchen’s signature dishes, the ambience will be one of understated sophistication, neither casual nor formal.
Menu
Open from 7:00am to midnight every day, the menu will reflect modern London cuisine. It incorporates classic dishes with those influenced by the cosmopolitan tastes of the capital’s restaurant-goers, embracing their ever-changing dining habits.
The restaurant service will move effortlessly through the day. Meet for breakfast of baked eggs in avocado with Virgin Mary sauce or buttermilk pancakes with autumnal fruits and Greek yoghurt. Enjoy a lunch of pan-fried sea bass with ravioli and Isle of Barra cockles or Dover sole ‘of the day’, and sample a dinner menu full of dishes that have stood the test of time, like eggs Drumkilbo and lamb cutlets Reform, together with more innovative notes from the kitchen, such as spatzle with Dorset lobster and sea aster or vegetable carpaccio with tarragon salsa verde.
45 Jermyn St. will also offer a supper menu. Sit at the dining counter or in a booth and choose from such delights as baked potato and caviar or scrambling prawns.
Design by Martin Brudnizki Studio
The restaurant has 113 covers and has been designed by the renowned design and architectural studio, Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, and allows for both table and counter dining options. It fuses classical detailing with a rich colour palette, and includes burnt orange leather banquettes in the centre, and intimate booths set against the front and back walls. A striking feature is the marble-fronted dining bar, where a innovative and fun range of cocktails will be shaken, stirred, and spritzed.
As a dining experience, 45 Jermyn St. effortlessly fuses the old and the new, and, as befits a restaurant only 50 yards from the statue of Beau Brummell, is sure to attract a fashionable and sophisticated crowd.
