Alton Towers founder John Broome has acquired Cornwall’s Crealy Great Adventure Park, located near Wadebridge, and with it around 200 acres of neighbouring farmland.
It is reported that John Broome plans to develop the Cornwall adventure park into a “premier European resort”, with plans scheduled to be considered by Cornwall Council in the next month or so.
The Camel Creek Resort project would utilise the acquired farmland to add up to 236 holiday villas, courtyard properties, tree houses, a pool, spa, restaurant, pub and convention centre.
It is not, however, intended to build the major rides that are such a feature of Alton Towers.
If plans are approved, development could start in 2016, bringing hundreds of new jobs.
