Drake & Morgan has announced the appointment of Derek Fraser-Shepherd as General Manager, Dave Green as Head Chef and Jay Newell as Bar Manager at its new site, Drake & Morgan at King’s Cross, opening on 25th September.
Derek (pictured above) has over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality sector with previous general manager roles at the Soho House Group and La Bodega Negra. Bringing with him proven experience in team-building, problem-solving and running the day-to-day operations of hugely demanding sites, Derek will work closely with Director of Operations Dylan Murray to successfully launch the group’s biggest bar and restaurant to date. From recruiting his own team to promoting the new grill concept on the menu, Derek will ensure the new site is as successful as its eight sister sites across London.
Joining Derek will be Dave Green as Head Chef with previous roles at Edinburgh’s Balmoral Hotel, Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge and the Soho House Group. Dave will oversee the kitchen and lead a brigade of chefs whilst also developing the restaurant’s new grill concept.
Jay Newell has also been appointed Bar Manager. A talented manager with multi-site experience and expert bartending skills, Jay has previously held roles at Sushi Samba and Barrio Central, amongst others. Jay will oversee an expansive new bar, set to be a destination drinking spot in the King’s Cross area, with a focus on creative cocktails and late-night entertainment.
The 14,500-square-foot space will be spread across two floors and will comprise two bars, a restaurant, deli and lounge, private dining room and two bookable kitchen ‘pods’ as well as an outdoor terrace. The all-day destination will be open seven days a week from breakfast through to dinner and cocktails with brunch available on Sundays.
