Let them eat steak! Beef & Brew, a modern interpretation of traditional steak houses, is coming to Kentish Town this September. The restaurant is dedicated to offering a dining experience for all: affordable & quality steaks, with plentiful beer.
Focussing on provenance, but using better value cuts, the menu shies away from loins, ribs & fillets, instead embracing rumps, flat irons & onglets.
Beef & Brew is the brainchild of Jessica Simmons and Daniel Nathan. Jess has a huge amount of experience in the restaurant business, having worked as a chef for Angela Hartnett at both Murano and the Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room, and uses beer in a number of her recipes, inspired by her time setting up the kitchen at London Fields Brewery.
Dan says: “Jess and I share a love of quality, unpretentious food and Beef & Brew will reflect that. The most important thing is that we’ll have a classically trained chef, dedicating herself to the simple & indulgent.”
Menu
Alongside their steaks, the menu offers a range of beef dishes. Rare roasted rump caps are used in a salad with roasted and pickled carrots; salt brisket is served in a classic dish with leeks & mustard cream, whilst also forming the base of brisket jam nuggets; short-rib is the filling in a gravy soaked and cheese covered classic “French Dip” bun.
For those not in the mood for beef there is Crispy Fried Chicken and some vegetarian fare from the healthy to the indulgent.
Sides and small plates range from the classic to the innovative, including Duck Hearts with Devilled Mayo, Lemonade Soaked Aubergine Chips and Gnocchi ‘n’ Cheese with Jalepenos, a spin on the classic mac ‘n’ cheese.
Beer
And then there’s the beer! Craft ales will be sourced from local brewers with Fourpure Pils & a house beer available on draft. There will be beer and food pairing options, whilst beer flights will offer the chance to sample a range of brews from across the country. There will also be a range of wines and cocktails on offer.
