Village London – the group behind The Garrison, Village East and the Riding House Cafe – has sold The Garrison on Bermondsey Street to The City Pub EIS Fund for an undisclosed sum.
To coincide with the sale of The Garrison, co-founder Clive Watson has confirmed his immediate departure from Village London, which he co-founded with Adam White in 2003. White will continue his role as Managing Director of Village East and the Riding House Cafe. The group’s considered expansion includes a recently announced new restaurant and bar within Nova, Victoria, to launch September 2016.
Watson, who has not been operationally involved with Village London since 2013, will continue to pursue new projects, including his newly opened all-day brasserie Blixen in Old Spitalfields Market and Our/London, a vodka micro distillery which he is set to open in Hackney this summer.

In a joint statement Adam White & Clive Watson said: “We were early in recognising the potential of Bermondsey Street as one of London’s hottest neighbourhoods, when we opened The Garrison in 2003. Over the last 12 years, Bermondsey Street has become a significant location on the London restaurant map; we are proud to have been part of that change.”
Opened in 2003, The Garrison is a bustling Bermondsey Street gastropub serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily to friendly neighbours, passers-by and nearby businesses. The rustic modern British menu changes regularly, according to the seasons and the quirky, casual atmosphere makes for the perfect place for any manner of social gatherings. The Garrison ‘Cinema Room’ is accommodates up to 25 seated guests and is available to hire privately for a variety of events: dinner, drinks, private screenings and meetings.
