The Vineyard Group has appointed Sally Russell as the new General Manager of The Kings Head Hotel in Cirencester. Sally will oversee all strategic and operational management within the hotel.
Sally has an extensive hospitality background having worked within The Vineyard Group previously, as Deputy General Manager and General Manager at The Donnington Valley Hotel and Spa for the last five years.
Sally has a rich pedigree of experience. Her previous roles include leading The Carnarvon Arms in Newbury and a role as Operations Manager of The Oxford Hotel.
Sally Russell, General Manager of the Kings Head, said: “I am absolutely delighted to be taking the reins at The Kings Head and becoming part of the local community. I’m really looking forward to building the fantastic foundation that we have at The Kings Head as a destination for both locals and visitors alike.”
Sally’s first introduction to the hospitality industry was at the age of just 16. She took up a waitressing role in her local pub where she learnt the importance of engaging with the local community. Since then, Sally has involved herself with each community that she has worked in, most recently being a member of the Board of the Newbury Chamber of Commerce.
Sally brings a wealth of international experience to her new role having worked in both Australia and Japan. During her stint in Asia, the level of hospitality inspired Sally. She said: “In Japanese culture they are constantly working towards keeping their customers happy. They always go above and beyond to see a smile and that is something that has always stayed with me. I try to always share the same etiquette with my staff and encourage them to do the same.”
