Busaba Eathai leads app innovation, introduces Apple Pay

By James Russell: Busaba Eathai leads app innovation, introduces Apple Pay

July 21, 2015

Thai restaurant group Busaba Eathai has announced integration with Apple Pay via its partner MyCheck, as it launches in the UK – the first restaurant to offer in-app payment by fingerprint and point of sale integration. The customer will be able to pay for the whole bill, or even split the bill with friends, with only a click of a button and swipe of their fingerprint. This seamless user experience is instantly recognisable and easy to use.

Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay. Payments will be verified using Touch ID, and when a credit or debit card is added to Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers, making it the one of the most secure payment solutions available.

This payment option provides guests with the opportunity to pay for their favourites, such as Thai calamari, quickly, seamlessly and whenever they are ready. This has proven to add value to the dining experience during busy periods and when time can be particularly limited.

Busaba Loyalty app

To date the app has 75,000 Busaba customers who use it to pay regularly. Loyalty rewards continue to drive repeat users, with return visits as high as 68%. Through the app customers are able to check in, receive relevant offers and use Pay-at-Table technology – no need to wait for the bill.

The app includes a loyalty scheme called ‘Path to Enlightenment’, which uses gamification to provide customers with incentives, such as their favourite dish for free.

Putting the customer first

Jason Myers, CEO of Busaba Eathai explains:

“We’re very pleased to be at the forefront of Apple Pay coming to the market and working with them to create a faster and safer payments system in our app. We’re committed to putting the customer first and providing tools to create an exceptional experience for our guests. We have been really encouraged by the number of downloads sustained over time and the volume of repeat visitors. We continue to learn about our customers and for them, better means simple and convenient.

“Early adoption of technology that adds value to our guest experience, such as Pay-at- Table and Apple Pay, is just one way that we plan to deliver on this. We are continuing to build our development roadmap for the future and have some exciting features ahead. Watch this space.”

Gil Hazan, VP of Global Growth at MyCheck, comments:

“From conception, Busaba Eathai has strived to offer its customers something unique. By pioneering new ideas and investing in innovation it has been able to create a tailored experience for each customer, from interactive VIP offers to its ground breaking ‘Path to Enlightenment’ loyalty programme. The application is in many ways a realisation of this philosophy. The simple and smooth user experience overlays compelling features such as fast and secure Pay-at-Table functionality, which now includes Apple Pay. We’re confident Busaba’s customers will enjoy the new style of service.”

The Busaba loyalty app upgrade is available to download now.
