Shangri-La claiming £57 million for Shard delays

By James Russell: Shangri-La claiming £57 million for Shard delays

June 15, 2015

Construction Enquirer reports that Shangri-La has issued a claim for £57m against John Sisk & Son following delays over the fit-out of its luxury hotel in the Shard.

A High Court writ has been lodged by the hotel operator against the contractor Sisk, which is strenuously denying the claims.

Sisk won the £40m fit out contract in early 2012 amid strong competition but the job ran behind schedule and in August 2013 Sisk was replaced on the contract by Chorus.

The termination of the contract has been in dispute since 2013. With both parties believing they have claims against the other, the dispute will now be subject to legal processes and is likely to continue for many more months before it is settled – in or out of court.
