The Grove, Narberth has appointed Allister Barsby as Executive Chef. Allister is Head Chef at Gidleigh Park where he has been working under the legendary Executive Chef Michael Caines since 2008, with a short spell as Sous Chef at the Bath Priory. Early in his career, Allister worked at the Michelin-starred Reads Restaurant with Rooms in Kent. Allister will be supporting Gidleigh Park and Michael until his own departure from the venue.

The Grove is delighted with the appointment as the hotel and food experience that has influenced Allister over the years is of a style that fits with its client base. Further, Allister has the ambition and natural ability combined with technical and kitchen management experience to transform the kitchen at The Grove. Allister has been moulded by one of the best chefs in the UK and now has significant experience running a large brigade at Gidleigh whilst operating at the highest level.

Over the years, the senior team at The Grove has visited and eaten at Gidleigh Park many times, regarding it as one of the finest hotels in England, as well as one of the most appealing restaurants operating at this level to be found anywhere in the UK. Gidleigh is clearly an excellent benchmark for The Grove.

The Grove has also confirmed that the new Head Chef at The Grove will be Peter Whaley. Peter, who hails from the Fat Duck in Bray, has been working at The Grove for 18 months as Senior Sous Chef. The Grove understands that any Chef, whoever they may be, that aims to achieve high standards consistently needs strength in depth, and that Peter provides this backstop for Allister.  Peter is an exceptional talent with the experience and most importantly the drive and creativity to form a unique and exciting partnership with Allister Barsby.
