Deer Park Country House Hotel is continuing with its major investment programme with planning permission granted for a new, stylish Orangery. Work on this will start early next year with an expected launch in April 2016.
Already known as a leading wedding venue, this will be a major asset to this stunning 18th Century Georgian mansion house, which is licensed for civil ceremonies and partnerships and available to book for exclusive use. For those who want to tie the knot outdoors, there’s a glorious secluded Secret Garden where couples can say their vows. A vintage summerhouse has been restored and makes another perfect setting, with its manicured lawn and beautiful country views with deer in the next field, for the wedding ceremony to take place.
Luxury thatched tree house
In addition, the hotel is now also the home of Devon’s first luxury thatched tree house. With the build recently finished, The Treehouse at the Deer Park is the ultimate love nest and will be available to stay in on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis from £650 a night. It has been designed and constructed by Blue Forest (www.blueforest.com). Renowned for their luxurious tree houses, the Blue Forest team has built hundreds of individual wooden structures around the world.
The hotel has also continued to invest in the main bedrooms, with a complete make-over for four of the rooms, as well as in the extensive gardens. The walled kitchen garden continues to flourish with new plantings, outdoor reared pigs and chicken, a wood fired oven and now two newly built greenhouses. Head chef Andy Storey in the award-winning Loxton’s restaurant uses as much of this seasonal fresh produce from the garden within the dishes served as possible. The restaurant, which is decorated with art commissioned by Margaret Loxton, was recently awarded AA two Rosettes and the hotel given four stars.
Inspired by the best of British
Commenting on all the new developments at the Deer Park, managing director, Mark Godfrey says: “We’ve seriously gone to town and have done everything possible to create an environment where guests will want to stay for longer and return as soon as they can.” Mark continues: “We can’t wait to start work on the new Orangery, it’s going to look spectacular. The Treehouse is simply stunning and is a real first for the region with its thatch roof and luxury design. The new cars have already gone down very well, making our guests feel very special when they’re collected and driven around in them.”
Inspired by the best of British, the hotel has a reputation for bringing an element of fun and the great outdoors into everything they do. With traditional sports such as shooting, fishing, archery and cooking with a wood fired oven on offer, and the extensive grounds of over 80 acres with deer grazing and a multitude of wildlife, staying at the Deer Park is like stepping into a Jane Austin novel but with a contemporary twist.
