Brakes has been named the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Fish Supplier of the Year in the UK for the second year running. The award recognises suppliers’ commitment to sourcing MSC certified products and promoting sustainable choices.
The win follows Brakes becoming the first foodservice wholesaler in the UK to commit to the Sustainable Fish Cities pledge, which ensures that all its general sale, own brand fish and seafood products are from sustainable sources.
Setting the standard
Adam Swan, Category Director at Brakes, says: “It is a fantastic honour to win this award for the second time. We introduced the first MSC product to the foodservice industry more than ten years ago and have recently signed the Sustainable Fish Cities pledge. I think that this demonstrates that we are happy to set the standard for the industry.
“We are absolutely committed to delivering certified products to our customers, stocking around 120 MSC products, with new lines being added regularly. We work closely with customers and our supply chain to ensure they can make sustainable choices, wherever possible.”
