Last Sunday marked the start of the country’s biggest bowls competition, taking place at Robinsons Navigation and Railway pubs in Woodley. Last year, the 5 week tournament saw hundreds flock throughout June and July to see 128 bowlers from around the country compete to take home a total combined prize of £5000.
According to John Mclean, Multiple Licensee of The Railway and The Navigation pubs, 2015 will be bigger and better than ever: “Following last year’s event, we had huge interest from competitive bowlers around the country. Almost as soon as the final result was announced the brackets for the 2015 edition were full with 68 bowlers on the reserve list just in case of a drop out!”
The competition, which will run until July 12th, will once again see bowlers compete to take home the prize of £5000 and the accolade of champion, currently held by winner Gary Ellis who will be returning to defend this year.
The grand final will take place on Sunday 12th July with Robinsons’ award-winning shire horses in attendance.
