iNTERTAIN has invested £400,000 in the refurbishment of its Walkabout venue in Newquay, Cornwall.
After extensive renovation, the bar has re-opened and is the second refurbishment of the year for iNTERTAIN, which re-opened a newly modernised Walkabout in Bristol in March.
The impressive Newquay refurbishment has created 20 new permanent bar, kitchen and management jobs and includes a full redesign of the main bar in addition to the creation of a new bar made from a shipping container.
Newquay investment details
The refurbishment includes a stunning ‘Reef Bar’ for the main bar area, where linked-screens showing under-sea and beach footage give the impression of being in a ‘Great Barrier Reef-like’ paradise.
The innovative shipping container bar is situated in a newly created outdoor decking area, which provides one of the best views in Newquay overlooking Towan beach and sells Cornish products, including Kelly’s Ice Cream, Doom Bar Ales, Skinners Ales and Rattler Cyder.
The venue also boasts a variety of pre-bookable booths and private areas for parties, meals, club nights and live music, along with plush VIP areas and a brand new, state-of-the-art sound & light system for an increased emphasis on live music.
The investment has also seen the introduction of a new menu, which gives the venue an increased focus on food, offering light bites, main meals, coffees, desserts, sharing dishes and party platters.
The menu includes new dishes inspired by the spirit of adventure, such as Wild Boar Burgers, as well as popular classics, such as the Walkabout Kangaroo Steak. This is coupled with a new drinks menu that includes wines, beers and cocktails inspired by the character and beauty of Australia.
The combination of the fresh looking modern venue and new menus strengthen Walkabout’s daytime offering, positioning it as the perfect place for an impromptu coffee, relaxing lunch or a chilled out afternoon.
Reinforcing Walkabout’s reputation in Newquay
John Leslie, CEO of iNTERTAIN said:
“We’re very excited to unveil our new-look Newquay bar as it continues the evolution of Walkabout. We’ve moved the brand on considerably over the last couple of years and Newquay is a great example of the future of Walkabout.
“This refurbishment will reinforce Walkabout’s reputation in Newquay as the best party and live sports venue in the town centre, while at the same time showcasing our fantastic daytime offering.
“The Bristol refurbishment project is already showing signs of a great return on investment, especially for daytime food trade, so we’re feeling very positive about the new opportunities our refurbishment in Newquay will bring.”
