Punch is focusing on helping its Partners to be the best they can be this summer with a range of support tools and free training opportunities.
Best in…
The Punch Progress Training and Development Team is offering a suite of completely free ‘Best in Class’ regional workshops on topics such as ‘Best in…Social and Digital Media’, ‘Sales and Marketing’ and ‘Lead and Train Your Team’ to help Partners address all elements of their summer offer and ensure their team members are a great reflection of their business.
Regional Learning and Development Manager Dan Armes explains: “We want to help get our Partners’ businesses in the best possible shape so they become the first place that customers think of when the sun does shine!
“It’s about seeing things through a customer’s eyes, pub gardens and external areas should be clean, bright and appealing and there should be a clear plan for summer service.
“Easy serve drinks such as a House Summer Cocktail or buckets of bottled beer on ice work well as does food without fuss such as burgers and hotdogs, breads and oils or nachos.”
Set for summer
Punch Partner Paul Whitehead from the Sturdy’s Castle, Kidlington tells us how he and the team are already set for summer:
“We aim to get summer ready by the May Bank Holiday weekend and that involves getting our garden and patio furniture in good shape, launching our summer menu and making sure our advertising and banners are all on message.
“We’ve also launched three theme nights throughout the summer – a burger, Italian and steak night and have recently added a new children’s play area outside so we’re looking forward to welcoming families when the sun does come out!”
Inside the pub
“We’re encouraging Partners to think about merchandising with summer relevant products such as fruit cider, rose wine and Pimms,” says Dan.
If Punch Partners or their team members need to brush up on some key skills then they could also try a short online training module (delivered by Flow Hospitality Training) on key topics such as ‘Creating Cocktails’, ‘Perfect Serve’ or ‘Merchandising to Sell’.
“And finally, Partners should shout about their businesses online with an up to date and appealing website and a presence on the key social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus.
“The use of pictures is really important on social media to tell a story about the pub’s offer. The free Best in class workshop on ‘Digital and Social Media’ can really help,” adds Dan.
The Punch Progress team have also created a special ‘Set for Summer’ guide, which contains a detailed check list for Partners plus hints and tips on getting all aspects of their business ready for summer.
