Six Eight Kafé, one of Birmingham’s most popular independent coffee shops, has announced it will be hosting regular evening pop-up restaurants across the year at its outlet in Eastside’s Millennium Point.

Following the success of pop-up food events held at the coffee shop earlier this year, Six Eight Kafé is calling on chefs across the city to join in as it will be opening up its commercial kitchen in Millennium Point, with a full programme across the year to showcase Birmingham’s exciting culinary talent.

Partnering with chefs

Partnering with some of the most innovative chefs in Birmingham – including Niki Astley from Two Cats Roaming, Michael Crew and Josh Porter of En Place, and Jay Jones from Pietanic – chefs  will serve up inspiring and original dishes made up of classic food with a modern twist.

Jason Goodger, manager of Six Eight Kafé, says: “This is a truly fantastic collaboration between Six Eight Kafé and these amazing chefs.

“We encourage any chef who would relish the opportunity to demonstrate their talent and culinary skills to enthusiastic and discerning diners to come forward and join us on our food revolution journey!”

Niki Astley, chef at Two Cats Roaming, says: “In the last two years, chefs have become increasingly emboldened in their ideas at pop-up restaurants and are more challenging in their offering, even more so than many of Birmingham’s established restaurants.”

The next pop-up restaurants will take place from 7.30pm and will feature Michael Crew, Josh Porter and Chris Dance from En Place on Thursday 14th May and Friday 15th May, Mike Bullard and Jamie Desogus from the Harborne Kitchen and The Butcher’s Social on Friday 29th May, and Kam and Cat from the Live & Raw Food Restaurant on Saturday 6th June.

Six Eight Kafe will continue to operate as a coffee shop during the day.
