The casual Korean-American restaurant specialising in Fried Chicken, Beer and Soju is to join Exmouth Market, London’s hidden gem full of independent food and shopping hotspots.
Building on the success of its pop-up at Rivington Street, in Shoreditch since 2013 – JUBO will continue to serve its delicious hot, sweet and crunchy Korean Fried Chicken in addition to Steamed Buns, Noodle and Rice Bowl dishes.
Serving top quality food in a relaxed setting, the menu places emphasis on chicken wings and boneless strips served in small plates or large platters – which have the crunchiest coating glazed in Soy Garlic, Hot or Volcanic sauces. Co-founder LK Foong commented, “We will continue to deliver the best fried chicken experience that JUBO is renowned for. These are tender, succulent pieces packed full of crunch and flavour.”
The new menu at Exmouth Market will feature a section of ‘Anju’ (drinking food) and ‘Banchan’ (Side Dishes) bar-bites developed by Korean Chef, Heung Kook Lee. Spicy, tangy, sweet and moorish flavours from these snacks and pickles will complement the selection of Beers, Cocktails and Soju (Korea’s national tipple dubbed ‘fire water’). Asahi super dry lager will also be available on tap.
Korean culture
JUBO draws inspiration from the K-towns of New York and Los Angeles, and identifies strongly with the work hard, play hard ethos of Korean culture. Co-founder Lyall Schwass commented, “We’re aiming to bring a taste of ‘Hoesik’ culture to London, where the sharing of good food and drink is very much a release from our highly pressured lifestyles, whether it be lunch, dinner or supper’.
JUBO will open its doors at 50 Exmouth Market on 5 June 2015. This will be the venture’s first independent site. LK Foong commented, “We’re still very much a start up, a young and small business at heart. Exmouth Market with its quaint ambience and close proximity to the city allows for smaller players like us to have a presence in the highly competitive London arena.
