Accor has announced two new hotel signings, increasing its significant footprint in the Midlands and North of England and adding 234 rooms to its portfolio. The ibis Styles and Mercure brand hotels, located in Derby and Leeds city centres will open in the next twelve months, with Mercure Derby at the end of the year and ibis Styles Leeds in 2016.
Mercure Derby
Mercure Derby will be operated under a franchise by the owners, London Town Hotels Group. This will be Accor and London Town Group’s fifth Mercure hotel after the successful partnership with the Mercure Nottingham City Centre, Mercure London Kensington, Mercure London Paddington, and Mercure London Hyde Park, which is due to open in Autumn 2015.
Mercure prides itself in being the only 4-star hotel brand that combines the strength of an international network, with a strong quality commitment and individualised local touches. The newly refurbished 100 room hotel at the Derbyshire County Cricket Ground, joins a network of 74 Mercure hotels in the UK and 711 Mercure hotels worldwide.
Ibis styles Leeds Merrion Centre
The second signing will see the realisation of the ibis styles Leeds Merrion Centre, a 134 room new build hotel. The hotel will open in 2016 and will operate under a franchise agreement with Town Centre Securities PLC.
Accor’s leading economy hotel brand, ibis, launched in 1974. Since then, the ibis, ibis Styles and ibis budget brands have expanded rapidly in the UK with a network of 92 hotels and 12,585 rooms. Globally, the three ibis brands have a total of 1738 hotels and 191,725 rooms. ibis Styles hotels are known for having their have their own personality and each hotel tells its own unique story through its design.
