The Times reports that Travelodge may be lined up for sale in the near future, at a price of around £1 billion.
The news comes only 3 years after the near collapse of Travelodge, but at a time of very positive interest and investment in the hotel sector, of which owners Goldman Sachs, Avenue Capital and Golden Tree Asset management will be well aware.
Apparently, the owners are assessing their strategic options, whilst Travelodge is set to reveal its 2014 earnings shortly – with soaring profits rumoured.
The sale of Travelodge would represent a unique opportunity in the UK budget hotel sector and looks set to attract serious international interest.
