Kent winemaker Chapel Down has reported soaring profits in the year ending December 2014, benefiting from good harvests.
Revenues were up 21%, at a record £6.1 million, with pre-tax profits reported at £187k.
Whilst wine sales flourished, beer sales soared – up 43%, though at lower margins than those for wine.
Chapel Wine raised £4 million through crowdfunding in 2014, and is optimistic about the prospects for 2105. It has already used the money raised to buy new vineyards in order to generate more product.
