Conveniently found in the middle of the entertainment heart of London, Salt’n Pepper is a short walk from either Leicester Square or Piccadilly Circus tube stations. The walk from either is enjoyable and when you arrive Salt’n Pepper offers mouth-watering South Asian cuisine in a relaxing environment.
Salt’n Pepper offers diners a range of freshly prepared curries and chargrilled barbecued dishes from its native Pakistan, served in Central London. So, working on my London Top 10 restaurants revisit project for H&C News I went along to Salt’n Pepper again last Saturday. From outside I could see that the restaurant was already full with people waiting for a table in the outside patio area which has an amazing take it all in view of the bustling Leicester Square.
I wanted to re try favorites and my all-time favorite is Garlic Naan with a selection of dips, it didn’t disappoint. My next choice was Grilled Lamb Chops and Marinated Lamb Seekh Kebab which is a signature dish at Salt’n Pepper. The marinations were created by Celebrity Chef Mahmood Akbar so if you are looking for quality and consistency, this is one dish to ensure you try.
I added some sides including, Saag Aloh – spinach cooked with fenugreek and a hint of garlic – and finished my experience with a variety of Kulfi desserts, Mango / Pistachio / Malai – sprinkled with pistachios.
I visited the kitchens to speak with the chefs and met new restaurant manager Ajay, who simply does the job as it should be done making all guests feel special.
I am a chef and restaurant consultant not a restaurant reviewer, so the text above may be simplistic but I hope it conveys my message, if you are looking for authentic Pakistani cuisine, this is a place to visit.
Thanks to the team at Salt’n Pepper for a very enjoyable evening once again, the first of my London Top 10 restaurants revisit project for H&C News.
We couldn’t publish all of the food images on one page so lots more can be seen on our Facebook page here.
