Located on Great Portland Street a stone’s throw from Regent’s Park and Marylebone, The Albany has always been a popular choice for local office workers and passing tourists alike. Throwing open its doors after a thorough refit, the new-look pub has a smartened-up interior, revamped food offer and innovatively stocked cellar – plus ‘The Other Place’, the pub’s brand new basement bar offering the three ‘B’s: low-lit booths, plenty of beer, and a regular line up of live bands.
The upstairs of The Albany retains its down-to-earth charm and is a smart but steadfastly pubby affair. Muted tones of grey and blue provide an elegant backdrop to a ceiling of chandeliers, with plenty of tables set out for dining and drinking.
Below ground at newbie bar ‘The Other Place’ things get a little more rock ‘n’ roll – with an intimate raised stage, neon lights, reclaimed school-style seating and concrete walls masked by vintage music posters.
