London-based bar and restaurant collective The Columbo Group has announced it will bring its popular Blues Kitchen concept to south London with the opening of a new site in Brixton. The group has just purchased the Electric Social in Brixton, and will develop the site with a view to opening The Blues Kitchen in autumn 2015. This latest acquisition brings the group’s portfolio of restaurants, bars, clubs and live music venues in the capital to eight.
Camden, Shoreditch, now Brixton
This will be the third Blues Kitchen venue in London after the successful launch of the Shoreditch site in 2014, and the original Blues Kitchen in Camden which opened in 2009.
As with the previous two sites, The Blues Kitchen will offer authentic Texan BBQ, live music seven nights a week and one of the biggest bourbon selections in London. The musical heritage and late night culture of Brixton make it a perfect location for The Blues Kitchen and The Columbo Group, who were recently awarded ‘Late Night Operator of the Year’ in the 2015 Publican Awards.
Columbo Group founder Steve Ball (pictured), who was last year named as one of Evening Standard’s ‘1000 Influential Londoners’, said of the acquisition:
“Brixton is currently one of the most exciting areas of London for restaurants, bars and clubs so we’re thrilled to be opening our third Blues Kitchen site here. The lively mix of late night music and authentic BBQ has been a great success in both Camden and Shoreditch and I look forward to bringing the party down south to Brixton.”
The Blues Kitchen is due to open in autumn 2015, and will be located at 40 Acre Lane, SW2 5SP.
