Starboard Hotels announces second acquisition and re-brand

By James Russell: Starboard Hotels announces second acquisition and re-brand

March 13, 2015

Starboard Hotels has completed the purchase of its first Scottish hotel, the 71-bedroom Holiday Inn Express Greenock (above) in Scotland. Just 20 minutes from Glasgow airport, the property is the latest addition to the company’s rapidly expanding portfolio, following the acquisition of the 58-bedroom Best Western Carlton Hotel in Blackpool last month.

The hotel owner, operator and developer, which already has a nationwide portfolio of hotels and hostels, including the multi award-winning Holiday Inn Express Burnley, is celebrating a stellar Q1 2015 and has ambitious plans for further expansion. It is actively looking for new UK hotels and sites.

Strong appetite for growth

Paul Callingham, managing director of Starboard Hotels, comments: “We are delighted to be expanding the Starboard portfolio. Scotland’s tourism industry has also been consistently strong, with the volume of trips, and spend, increasing year on year. Our appetite for growth remains strong in other major UK cities too.”

“The Greenock property is in a popular location, on the Clyde Coast, and it holds a high reputation amongst its guests. We believe we can add significant value to Greenock’s hospitality offering and we look forward to exploring our options in Scotland.”

Re-brand for Starboard Hotels

In line with its expansion, Starboard Hotels will undergo a rebrand that will encompass the brand’s core ethos of creating memorable travel experiences for its guests.

The new logo aims to reflect the company’s key values: unity, across all three business arms to deliver a well-rounded service and maintain a greater presence in the sector; stability, providing a consistent and reliable service to all stakeholders; and progressive, as the business grows in a sustainable way.

Paul adds: “We’re moving into a very exciting period with new opportunities taking us all over the UK which is why we will also strengthen our company’s philosophy through a brand makeover.”
